I come from a long line of women who are passionate about art and the artist's vision to create something that never existed before - an interpretation of shapes, designs, textures and color. As a child of the 70s, I think pop art is just in my blood. I have saved every album cover I ever owned. I love working in vintage clothing with a modern flare and when it comes to household design - modern classics are what I adore. So it was totally serendipitous that I was introduced to Teo Jasmin and their latest collection of amazing cushions, armchairs, wall art and more.
Teo Jasmin offers home decor that combines epic pop art classics with the sophistication and fashion legacy of Brigette Bardot in Paris to the taxi and sky line of the Big Apple.
In learning more about Teo Jasmin's collection, the best way to describe their style is through pictures. If you love sass and sophistication, you gotta love Teo Jasmin's Doggy Queen and vibrant flare of London style. These pieces and their accessories are Extraordinique!
Be sure to check out Teo Jasmin's other items, including fashionable stickers for your correspondence too. I know a few who'd love the Doggy Queen collection, especially this one, entitled King Harry!Web site | Where to Buy
As a result of the pet food scare and recall earlier this year, we have been on a quest to find pet foods that eliminates much of the elements unnatural to our cat and dog's diet. This summer, we came across Merrick Pet Foods new line of pet food for dogs and cats called B.G. - Before Grain. It is by far the best canned food and kibble we have given our pets. We have seen significant results in their digestion and their coat and nails. We've even seen an improvement in one of our dogs allergic sensitivities, which always seemed to rise after meals. With two indoor cats now reaching 16 years old and two 90-lb eating machines, B&G is a product we spend a little more money on, but know they are getting the best nutrition, which keeps them healthy and us happy!

A new alternative to the beanbag of the past, Jukka Setälä from Finland designed the Fatboy®
in 1998 as the beanbag from the 21st century. Now with a wide selection of Fatboy options, which includes Fatboy's for indoor and outdoor spaces as well as for your four-legged companions, Fatboy is a fun and easy-to-maintain accessory for any home, office, dorm room, game room, etc.
Considering we call our own cat, Fatboy, we see the 24x24 catbag being the perfect place for him to take his coveted catnaps!

If you have a cat, you'll know three things. One, they can nap for days. Two, they love a good stretch after that nap; and three, the stretch is usually followed by a good "pet-icure" where the cat goes to your couch, bed corner, or cat scratcher to sharpen the claws. I think it makes them feel alive.
In our home, we keep a constant supply of cardboard scratchers, but they aren't exactly something you like to leave out as a visual when guests come over.
Until now...
I just ran across Marmalade Pet Care products and they have taken the "cardboard scratcher" to a whole new level. Marmalade calls it, "True modern furniture... for pets." With products like their Cheeky Chaise and the Sweet Lounge, these are pieces for your home, designed with ecologically-friendly materials and durably constructed as irresistible forms for cats to lounge and sink their claws into -- all the while, saving your furniture, carpet or other favorite "scratching posts" from the the daily "cat scratch" routine.

This post started with research for our doberman/shar-pei mix who gets awful cold now on our morning walks as it gets colder and colder. I was searching for a coat that would keep him dry and warm, but found it's actually hard to find larger breed dog apparel that isn't flannel or boring. Then, we found a very cool boutique, Trixie + Peanut with an online store and a flagship boutique in New York City.
While our vision for Extraordinique has been to feature the artists, designers and innovators who are personally creating new things, I thought Trixie + Peanut founder, Susan Bing, had the backstory that carries the extraordinique perspective we are looking for. As an art director and graphic designer for over ten years, Bing became the Art Director for Tiffany & Company's marketing department, designing and overseeing production of all catalogs, publications and advertising. Through her freelance assignments and in-house positions at other firms, Bing has worked on projects for clients including Saks Fifth Avenue, Bill Blass and Estée Lauder.
In the six years since founding Trixie + Peanut, Bing has transformed a small catalog business into a complete lifestyle brand for today's pets and the owners who love them. She carries great products and notes they are for "pets + people" which is a great perspective to have when it comes to all "pet parents" we know.
What people do and what they can create is the vision of Extraordinique. We are glad to have sniffed out Trixie & Peanut and this SNIFF Jumper is definitely more our pup's style!
Karim Rashid is known for his artistic designs as a leading figure in the fields of product, interior, fashion, furniture, lighting design and art. Designing for our beloved pets, Rashid created the Yum Bowl a contemporary ceramic design that cleverly integrates the handle into its asymmetric design. The bowl is microwave-safe with a non-skid bottom. The bowl comes in two sizes for your pups. The Small Yum holds two cups dry food and the Large Yum holds enough for four.

As a kid, I was an absolute fanatic about dinosaurs. In fact, while most girls were playing with dolls, I had a large sand box my mom made me filled with plastic dinosaurs which used to keep my attention for hours. 30 years later, Pleo is about to make every kid (and kid at heart) go bananas over this robotic dinosaur -- or "truly autonomous life form" as Caleb Chung, creator likes to describe them.
What makes the Pleo so amazing is that it is designed to interact. The Pleo, according to the Website, "is equipped with senses for sight, sound, and touch. He learns as he explores his environment. He will exhibit genuine reactions to sensory stimuli. Every Pleo begins life with certain tendencies but, interaction with his environment has subtle effects on his behavior. Every Pleo eventually exhibits a unique personality.
Pleo is capable of expression. He can feel joy and sorrow, anger and annoyance. When Pleo is tired, he will become drowsy and go to sleep--even dream. Two or more Pleos will recognize one another. Be careful though. They can transmit colds to each other. Achoo! Pleo even sneezes!"
How cool is that?!?! The Pleo is stirring major buzz this year as the holiday's near and I can see why. Checking out the PleoWorld website, these cute juvenile camararsaurs are worth getting in line for. Santa -- This little feller is on my list!
